18th and 19th Century Decorative Arts at the Hammond-Harwood
House, Annapolis, Maryland
The Hammond-Harwood House is home to one of the finest arrays of decorative arts and early Maryland furniture in the area. The pieces in this collection range in date from the early 18th century to the first quarter of the 19th century. Regional styles represented include those from Philadelphia, New York, Massachusetts, and Annapolis. Perhaps the finest pieces in our collection were made by the Annapolis cabinetmaker John Shaw whose gambrel roofed, two story house still stands on State Circle in Annapolis. The Hammond-Harwood House maintains numerous Shaw works including two sideboards, multiple chairs, a cellarette, a linen press, a game table, and two pembroke tables.
