With the COLONIAL ADVENTURE TOUR, for 3rd - 5th graders, students step back in time as they learn about the lives of men, women, and children living in Maryland during the 1770s. The tour is divided into two 45 minute sessions.  In one session, students tour the colonial mansion and learn the basics about colonial life and history through an open dialogue, question and answer session with our expert guides.  In part two, students touch and make many of the things they have seen in the house.  Through the use of reproduction artifacts and imaginative, interactive games, students get a direct sense of what it would have been like to be an artist, a furniture maker, a gentry man, a gentry lady, a servant, and more.  The hands-on session, in the one-time colonial wine cellar, allows children to . . .

Make a Tussie-Mussie, write with quill pens, play with colonial toys, paint a life-size replica of an 18th century portrait,
play with colonial cards, build a replica brick wall,
card wool, create a Sampler, experiment with furniture, etc.

Admission is $3.00 per child.  Teachers are free.  Please, two adults per 10 children, maximum.  Program includes 40-45 minute hands-on activities and 40-45 minute "question and answer" tour of the house!  Available 10:00 - 4:00, weekdays and summer.  This is a smart program  for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Homeschoolers too!  Participants may even purchase a colonial "Fun Pack" to take home at an additional cost of $1.00 per child.
