The Hammond-Harwood House maintains one of the most impressive collections of early American and British fine arts in the area.  In fact, the house museum boasts more than a dozen images by the famous Peale family of artists including:  8 paintings by Charles Willson Peale, 1 painting by Charles Peale Polk,  3 images by James Peale, and 1 grand painting by Rembrandt Peale.  Other artists whose works are on display include John Hesselius, Robert Edge Pine, Jeremiah Theus, John B. Bordley, Bouche, Francis Swaine, Richard Corbould,  Robert Field, and John Trumbull.  Many of these colonial artists worked right here in Maryland.

The museum is also home to an array of engravings, watercolors, silhouettes, and samplers--all of which are included in this category.
